ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTUREThis role reports to the Library Technician and works closely with the Student Success Librarian.
SUMMARYAiding in the development, promotion and execution of programming to increase student engagement with the Library by assisting with organizing and hosting events, creating peer-focused social media content, and engaging and communicating with KPU students and the KPU community about library services, spaces, and resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Assists with planning and implementation of library events such as, Welcome Week, First Year Festival, and Long Night Against Procrastination. This includes staffing the pop-up information table(s), engaging in conversation with other students, and facilitating social media presence and student survey contest.
- Assists with marketing and promotion of Library services.
- Acts as a peer-focused consultant for library tools and resources.
- Assists in coordinating event logistics.
- Acts in accordance with KPU branding standards.
- Contributes to and promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment by adhering to University policies and procedures and completing mandatory training programs.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS- Preference given to current KPU students in good standing.
- Social Media savvy with proven knowledge and experience in creating social media content like reels, videos, and graphics.
- Ability to work collaboratively and in a team.
- Creative, energetic, outgoing and enthusiastic and seeking to make a difference.
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
- A professional and positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Interested in making an impact on the campus community.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and event-planning skills and the ability to work to multiple deadlines.
- Computer literate and experienced with Microsoft Office software.
- Available for shifts at any campus or community event, as needed.
- Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Timings are:
8hrs/week, 2x4hr shifts a week, 1x15 minute break a shift.
Monday to Friday. Hours are flexible depending on class schedule.
There will be an intersession layoff in December 2025.
Salary InformationStudent Assistants are paid as per the following:
Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) - BC Minimum Wage
One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) - BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
With a post-secondary diploma or degree - BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
