Job summary

A leading building materials solutions provider in Scarborough is seeking a Truck and Coach Apprentice. In this full-time role, you'll maintain and repair ready-mix trucks while working in a supportive environment focused on safety and quality. Ideal candidates have training in Truck and Coach programs and a strong understanding of diesel and hydraulic systems.

  • Successful completion of the Truck and Coach Program or registered training agreement is required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel to local sites as required.

  • Perform inspections, diagnosis, & repair ready-mix trucks.
  • Perform removal, rework and installation of engine and chassis components.
  • Use diagnostic technology to identify breakdowns.
  • Order required parts and maintain parts inventory.

Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing maintenance and repairs to the Dufferin Concrete & Ontario Redimix fleet of vehicles.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections, diagnosis, & repair ready-mix trucks through preventative & scheduled maintenance.
  • Perform removal, rework and installation of various engine and chassis components.
  • Use leading diagnostic technology to identify breakdowns.
  • Order required parts and maintaining parts inventory.
  • Document repairs on work orders and complete inspections sheets as required.
  • Communicate with operations and supervisory staff on availability of equipment.
  • Prioritize jobs and work safely on all equipment.
  • Follow shop procedures and company policies relating to use of shop and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • All other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Registered training agreement or sucessful completion of Truck and Coach Program from a recognized institiution.
  • Sound working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic pumps/motors, and air brake systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a safety-first approach.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel to local sites as required.
