Job summary

Canada Post in Cranbrook, BC is hiring a temporary, on-call Letter Carrier to deliver mail and parcels. You will start in the depot, sort deliveries, load and drive a postal vehicle, then deliver on foot or by vehicle to customers along your route.

The role requires a valid Class5 or ClassG license, ability to lift 50lb, work in all weather, and be on-call. English and/or French language ability is required. Training is provided, with potential for permanent positions.

Qualifications

• A valid Class5 or ClassG driver's license with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
• The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7kg (50lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9kg (35lb) regularly throughout the day
• The ability to work in all types of weather
• The availability to be on-call
• The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French

Responsibilities

• Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot
• Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle
• Deliver mail and packages on your route by foot or by vehicle
• Return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery
