Job Description

You will be responsible for managing and administering all aspects of the Music Lesson Centre. Working with the Director of Music Education, you will ensure consistent application of the Lesson Centre Policies and Procedures.

1. Interview, select and provide orientation for suitable teachers
2. Coordinate teacher schedules and room schedules
3. Promote and market the Music Lesson Centre
4. Register students and enforce attendance and payment policies
5. Maintain accurate student and teacher attendance records
6. Confirm and administer teacher pays
7. Train and supervise lesson staff
8. Resolve student and parent problems and complaints
9. Develop and coordinate group programs and classes
10. Schedule and plan bi-annual student recitals
11. Evaluate teachers for job effectiveness and rate increases
12. Liaise with store staff to promote and market Long & McQuade products and services
13. Maintain studios and studio equipment
14. Regularly review Lesson Centre revenue and growth projections

Job Requirements

1. Minimum three years of instrumental music studies in school or through private lessons
2. Strong knowledge of music education
3. Must be able to work weekdays, weeknights and weekends
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
5. Excellent interpersonal skills
6. Proven sales and customer service skills
7. Basic office administration and customer account management skills
8. Ability to manage people

Sales and Rentals Responsibilities

1. Help our customers through the selling and renting of musical instruments and gear
2. Define the individual needs of every customer and match those needs with the right combination of our products and services
3. Demonstrate recommended products to customers and explain their features and benefits
4. Answer telephone calls in a timely and professional manner
5. Follow up on product orders with customers and suppliers
6. Use our common sense approach with customers to troubleshoot and solve problems
7. Maintain in-depth and current knowledge of our products, policies and procedures
8. Attend weekly staff meetings and periodic training sessions
9. Merchandise store to create an inviting environment for customers to shop
10. Participate in store maintenance, warehouse duties, and other related tasks

Sales and Rentals Requirements

1. Must be a musician who plays at least one instrument
2. Must be able to work weekdays, weeknights and weekends
3. Excellent verbal communication skills
4. Positive attitude and steady composure
5. Proven strong work ethic and commitment
6. High levels of energy and enthusiasm
7. Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
8. Ability to recommend solutions in a confident and assertive manner
9. Good organizational skills and attention to detail
10. Previous experience in retail or sales is an asset
