Job summary

The Lambton Kent District School Board is seeking a Lenape Language Teacher for a temporary position from July 2 to July 29, 2025. The teacher will deliver a Lenape language program at a designated site, supported by community language speakers. Qualifications include an Ontario College of Teachers certificate and Lenape proficiency, alongside relevant experience with Indigenous students.

Qualifications

• Certification from the Ontario College of Teachers is mandatory.
• Proficiency in the Lenape language is required.
• Experience in working with Indigenous students is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide a Lenape language program at designated sites.
• Collaborate with community knowledge keepers and speakers.
• Work hours from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This is an internal/external posting. First preference will be given to qualified permanent Secondary L.K.D.S.B. teachers.

Qualifications

Reporting to the System Coordinator of Alternative and Continuing Education, the Lenape Language Teacher will provide a Lenape language program at a site to be determined at Eelünaapéewi Lahkéewiit. Eelünaapéewi Lahkéewiit will provide support for the program with the provision of community knowledge keepers and language speakers. Qualifications/Experience:

• Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification required;
• Lenape language proficiency required;
• Experience working with Indigenous students an asset;
• Experience with credit recovery and/or student success initiatives an asset.
  
  

Position Effective Date & Length - Duration & Schedule

9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Rate: $58.58/hour
