Job summary

Oxford County is seeking a dedicated individual to assist in the safekeeping of official records and manage requests under relevant privacy acts. POSITION SUMMARY :

Assists in the safekeeping of all official records for the County, and those maintained by the Oxford County Archives, and administering requests under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS :

  • Post-secondary education in an Archives or Library Technician program.
  • Knowledge of local history, familiarity with archival procedures and practices, relevant standards, legislation, current trends and principles are assets.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • High level of interpersonal, communication, and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, be detailed oriented and accurate.
  • Strong technical skills and previous experience with digitization, web archiving, and website design, as well as a social media background are assets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, ABBY FineReader, Vita Digital Collections Toolkit (or other digital archive management software), and Laserfiche are assets.
  • Understanding of Ontario curriculum and previous experience with public and educational program development an asset.
  • Ability to demonstrate the required competencies for this position in alignment with Oxford County’s competency framework.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutes and regulations related to municipal and program specific operations including MFIPPA and PHIPA.
  • Understanding of records management procedures, including retention schedules, are assets.
  • Experience working in a municipal environment with The Ontario Municipal Records Management System (TOMRMS) is an asset.
  • Considerable knowledge of administrative practices, procedures, and standard protocol.
  • The ability to work within strict and / or urgent deadlines.
