About the Opportunity


The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a full-time term Legislative and Freedom of Information Coordinator, based in Lake Country, BC. This is a 9 month term position.



Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services and supporting Council, the Legislative and Freedom of Information Coordinator is responsible for confidential and personal information associated with closed Council meetings and all responsibilities associated with open Council Meetings. The Legislative and Freedom of Information Coordinator is responsible for processing statutory and confidential duties, tasks, requests, complaints and privacy matters under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). The Legislative and Freedom of Information Coordinator provides confidential technical administrative support, legislative and research support in coordination with the activities of the Corporate Services Department.



Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • coordinate the preparation of all open and closed Council meetings, including Agenda creation, distribution and posting, catering, facility set up, attendance, invitations and technology and system software in addition to preparing reports for and minutes from the meetings;

  • complete applicable Corporate Services action items resulting from open and closed Council Meetings;

  • carry out research to assist with drafting, reviewing, formatting and consolidating bylaws, policies, procedures;

  • coordinate and maintain tracking of various Corporate Services tracking indexes including bylaws, policies, procedures, contacts, agreements and purchasing documents, working with various departments to ensure files are complete, accurate and up to date;

  • assist with the development and implementation of an organizational wide Records Management System;

  • act as the eScribe Meeting Management software subject matter expert.

More About You


To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of two years toward a college diploma in office administration, business administration, public administration or other relevant diploma, or a certificate in local administration awarded by the Board of Examiners and a minimum of three years’ experience in a local government legislative setting. A valid British Columbia Driver’s License and clear Criminal Records Check is also required.



As our ideal candidate, you have an excellent ability to tactfully deal with internal and public inquiries, and the ability to handle sensitive issues. An advanced knowledge of corporate and administrative legislation and procedures affecting local government is required. You are an exceptional communicator, both written and verbal, and skilled in dealing with highly confidential matters with courtesy and diplomacy.

  • This exempt position offers a competitive annual salary in the range of $80,357 to $88,762;
