Job description

The Legal Counsel will play a key role in supporting Stellantis Canada's business objectives by delivering strategic, solution-oriented legal advice, with a focus on privacy and commercial, sales, and marketing matters. In addition, they will effectively manage external counsel support and budget. This role reports to the Stellantis Canada General Counsel and requires a curious individual with superior negotiation skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to build influential relationships with the Canadian leadership team.

The Legal Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor and business partner to diverse business units across Stellantis Canada. They will be expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships, founded on trust and transparency, with internal and external partners, and to address complex legal and business issues in an accurate, clear, and thorough manner. They must exercise sound judgment and possess excellent communication skills. The ability to drive decisions to consensus and influence change is essential.

The candidate must be prepared to support a fast-changing automotive landscape, marked by autonomous vehicle technology, connectivity, and a transformative consumer data platform.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Develop influential relationships, mutual trust, and collaborative partnerships within the Canadian Sales and Marketing leadership team, Human Resources, and other business partners.
  • Collaborate with Stellantis Canada business partners and Global Legal colleagues on strategic North American initiatives, focusing on privacy and data security compliance.
  • Support and advise the Sales and Marketing team, including reviewing sales and marketing materials and contracts to ensure legal compliance.
  • Support and advise business units on potential risks associated with all aspects of Stellantis Canada's operations and deliver risk mitigation solutions to meet company objectives and reduce risk exposure.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Stellantis’ North American business, product roadmaps, go-to-market strategy, and competition.
  • Monitor legal trends to ensure business leaders are provided with up-to-date guidance on legal risks and compliance.
