Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a capable Legal Counsel to join its Canadian in-house team, reporting to the Legal Director – Canada. The role centers on supporting major infrastructure and engineering projects across Canada with a focus on commercial contracts.

Ideal candidates have 3–6 years post-call experience, bar admission in Canada, and familiarity with alternative delivery contracting models. This is a full-time position in a flexible Canadian-office setting across Arcadis offices.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years post-call experience in private practice and/or an in-house legal role.
• Licensed to practice law in Ontario, Alberta or another Canadian province.
• Experience supporting commercial, construction, infrastructure, engineering, or professional services matters.
• Familiarity with alternative delivery contracting models (e.g., PDB, Alliancing) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive commercial legal support during the pursuit, negotiation, and delivery of complex contracts (such as Design-Build-Finance and Target Cost Contracts).
• Offer proactive guidance on legal and contractual risks to project and bid teams.
• Partner with business leaders to align legal strategies with business objectives.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to avoid contractual disputes and support claims management with external counsel.
