What you will do
As Legal Counsel, you will provide expert legal support to our automotive business, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will work closely with business leaders, advising on commercial, regulatory, and operational matters, and play a key role in managing legal risk across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Advise on regulatory compliance, including privacy law and data protection (including PIPEDA or other relevant frameworks).
- Support the launch and development of new digital products and services, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide legal guidance on consumer protection issues, including advertising, warranties, product liability, and digital sales channels.
- Monitor legal developments in privacy, consumer protection, and the automotive sector, proactively communicating relevant changes to internal stakeholders.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex legal issues.
- Deliver training to business teams.
- Maintain high standards of professional ethics and confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
- Called to the Bar in a Canadian province.
- 3–5 years of post-qualification legal experience from a reputable law firm; automotive or manufacturing sector experience is a strong asset.
- Strong background in contract law, privacy law, consumer protection.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and strong analytical skills.
- French language skills, litigation experience, a Civil Law Degree, or familiarity with automotive industry regulations and trends are an asset.
