Global X is seeking a talented and energetic lawyer to join the legal team in our Toronto office as Legal Counsel. This is an opportunity to join Canada’s most innovative ETF provider. As a key member of the legal team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support across a broad range of investment and enterprise matters.

Key Responsibilities :

You will deliver expert and experienced legal support to Global X’s business, operations and corporate affairs, with a focus on its investment fund manager and portfolio manager activities, including :

• Drafting documents, including prospectuses, material contracts, corporate documents, regulatory applications and filings in support of the creation and continuous distribution of Global X's ETFs.
• Drafting and negotiating agreements, including investment management agreements, sub-advisor agreements, dealer agreements, broker documentation, custody agreements and employment agreements.
• Staying abreast of industry and regulatory developments affecting Global X.
• Advising internally on a wide array of new and existing securities laws and regulatory developments, including compliance with National Instrument 81-102 Investment Funds and other applicable laws and regulations.
• Identifying risks and implementing appropriate actions to mitigate them.
• Building effective relationships and collaborating with internal/external stakeholders.
• Instructing and managing external legal counsel.
• Supporting and collaborating with the compliance team on various matters.
• Assisting on other legal matters as they arise.

Qualifications :

• Graduated from a nationally recognized law school.
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• A minimum of three years of corporate/securities law experience gained from a law firm, major financial institution, or securities regulatory body, with an emphasis on asset management and investment fund products.
• Knowledge of and previous experience relating to financial services, the investment fund industry, mutual funds, ETFs, and the Canadian regulatory environment.
