Our people at JLL and JLL Technologies are shaping the future of real estate for a better world by combining world class services, advisory and technology for our clients. We are committed to hiring the best, most talented people and empowering them to thrive, grow meaningful careers and to find a place where they belong. Whether you’ve got deep experience in commercial real estate, skilled trades or technology, or you’re looking to apply your relevant experience to a new industry, join our team as we help shape a brighter way forward.

JLL's Legal Department is expanding its presence in Canada, and we're seeking an experienced and dynamic lawyer to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our thriving Property Management portfolio, while also contributing to a variety of other legal matters. Ideally, you'll bring 3-5 years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) in commercial real estate and construction, gained either in private practice or in-house. A solid foundation in real estate and construction law is essential.

As part of a small, collaborative team, you'll thrive in our fast-paced environment, where you'll have the chance to advise on a diverse range of complex corporate matters. Your primary focus will be on Property Management, Construction, and Contract Management, with additional exposure to project management, asset management, cross-border multi-family transactions, employment law, privacy, compliance, and supplier engagements.

This role is a hybrid position based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), requiring the successful candidate to work in the office three days per week.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare, draft, and negotiate a wide range of legal contracts and corporate commercial agreements.
  • Provide counsel and strategic advice to internal stakeholders, including peers and leaders, on contract and commercial issues. Ensure outcomes align with client priorities, company goals, legal requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Draft correspondence with external clients and government regulators/agencies, collaborating closely with compliance, HR, finance, and legal team members.
  • Address external and internal feedback, ensuring that all contracts reflect required legal, financial, and performance terms.
  • Provide support and leadership on other legal matters as needed by the Head of Legal.
  • Independently manage relationships with high-level client contacts.
  • Assist the Head of Legal with onboarding new matters through our legal tracker program.
  • Embrace an entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrating a willingness to tackle new challenges and proactively engage in diverse tasks.
  • Provide reliable, timely, and professional support to the Head of Legal and the Canadian business.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Newly qualified to 2 years PQE either as in-house counsel or practiced commercial real estate, corporate or employment law in private firm
  • Bachelor of Law (LL. B) or J.D. Degree and be a current member of the Ontario Bar Association.
  • Proven experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating corporate, supplier, and employment agreements, with exceptional attention to detail and strong drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple assignments and competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A self-motivated approach with excellent judgment and prioritization skills.
  • Strong organizational, commercial, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Netdocs, and ChatGPT.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
