Job description

Career as a Legal Advisor Analyst within the Specialized Transactions and Products team, part of the Capital Markets division at National Bank. You will act as an expert advisor for the structured products sector and ensure business practices comply with Canadian regulations.

Responsibilities

Participate in all stages of the development and marketing of structured products
Draft prospectuses and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including those in taxation and accounting
Issue legal opinions to support business decisions
Ensure that business practices in the sector comply with Canadian regulations
Analyze and review various legal reports and documents to protect the Bank’s rights
Make recommendations on the development and marketing of products to manage risks for the Bank and its subsidiaries

Team

Within the Specialized Transactions and Products sector, you will be part of a team of lawyers and paralegals reporting to the Manager, Specialized Transactions and Products. You collaborate daily with financial engineers who structure financial products.

Prerequisites

Bachelor’s degree in law and Member of the Barreau du Québec for 1 to 3 years
In-depth knowledge of the regulatory and corporate framework for securities
Master the functioning of financial markets and show interest in the sector
Experience drafting commercial agreements
Know the Canadian regulatory context regarding registration and compliance of securities stakeholders
