Legal Counsel

LOCATION : Calgary - AB - Canada

We are actively recruiting for the role of Legal Counsel , reporting to the Legal Director, Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal support and advice across Tenaris’ business in Canada. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team that delivers on all legal matters including commercial, procurement, labour & employment, regulatory, corporate governance, and litigation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide general advice and legal oversight of Tenaris’ business in Canada by working closely with all business functions
  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of contracts and other legal documents with customers, suppliers and other business partners
  • Provide timely and responsive client service
  • In partnership with other functional areas, draft and review various company policies
  • Strategic day-to-day responsibility for the resolution of contractual issues, claims and disputes to support the commercial business while mitigating risk
  • Assist in preparing standard terms and conditions
  • Oversee litigation matters
  • Work closely with the Human Resources department on labour and employment matters
  • Oversee corporate governance and implement corporate structure changes

Qualifications

  • JD or LLB from a recognized university
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Alberta
  • 4+ years of legal experience in a top-tier law firm or in-house department
  • Experience negotiating various contracts
  • Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good commercial sense; practicality and proportionality in legal advice
  • Ability to explain technical matters so that they can be easily understood by non-lawyers
  • Willingness and ability to manage a wide variety of legal issues across disciplines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
