Qualifications

  • Mindestens 7 Jahre relevante Erfahrung in der privaten Praxis und in-house Recht.

Job description

TransCanada Turbines (TCT) is the sole authorized overhaul, repair, and maintenance service provider for both Siemens Energy and General Electric (GE) aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, serving an expanding international client base. TCT is headquartered in Airdrie and operates an overhaul depot in Airdrie, a testing facility in Calgary, and three field service offices located across the USA and in the UK.

Summary
TransCanada Turbines (TCT) has a newly created Legal Counsel role to support a broad range of practice areas including but not limited to contracts, corporate compliance, corporate/commercial, policies and procedures, litigation. This is a generalist role for someone with the confidence and experience to provide a broad range of legal support across a dynamic, internationally focused business. This position will appeal to an individual with relevant years of in-house legal experience coupled with strong business acumen. As a trusted advisor you play an integral role within the business to provide guidance on legal matters.

Duties
Duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Review, draft and negotiate supplier and vendor contracts (includes but is not limited to PO terms, GSAs, etc.).
  • Provide support to the procurement/supply chain function as required.
  • Manage litigation matters in collaboration with the GC/VP.
  • Manage and update all commercial contract templates as necessary.
  • Review, update and create (as required) TCT Corporate policies, ensure such policies comply with applicable legislation.
  • Continue development and execution of certain internal compliance training, communication and audit plans.
  • Review TCT’s End User Part Sales Working Procedure (WP) to ensure compliance requirements are met and maintained.
  • Provide general legal counsel to all internal departments.
  • In conjunction with the Commercial Department share in the responsibility of the following duties:
    • Review, draft and negotiate Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreements.
    • Manage TCT’s Insurance Program (renewals, audits, certificates, Surety Bonds, etc.).
    • Legal/Commercial research.
    • Complete and manage compliance focused screening and monitoring system for TCT’s suppliers/vendors.
  • Take ownership of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for HSE.
  • Other duties as directed by your leadership team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Will possess a law degree (J.D. or L.L.B) and is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
  • The successful individual will have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant private practice and in-house legal experience.
  • Desirable experience in corporate/commercial matters coupled with contractual language coupled with staying abreast on legal trends.
  • You are a team player focused on partnering with internal departments to achieve positive results to achieve goals and objectives.
  • You are meticulous, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a demanding environment.
  • You are a self-starter – geared towards taking on initiatives and projects and working alone or with others to execute and deliver on a variety of matters.
  • A combination of experience and qualifications may be considered for this role.
