Legal Assistant (Health Law, Insurance Defence, and Dispute Resolution & Advocacy)

Our Client is seeking a talented Legal Assistant with at least three years’ experience in Health Law, Insurance Defence, or Dispute Resolution & Advocacy, to join their exceptional team.

Salary: Up to $68K

Key Responsibilities

  1. General administrative tasks including answering the phone and handling messages
  2. Managing all scheduling including managing calendars, and the Bring Forward “tickler” system
  3. Ensuring organization and follow up on said Bring Forward system
  4. Compiling, serving, and filing motion records and other court documents
  5. Drafting, sending, and replying to correspondence
  6. Communicating with clients, experts, and the courts
  7. Preparing and sending invoices
  8. Requesting conflict checks, opening and closing files
  9. Managing documents in a Document Management System and in Relativity
  10. Document management including scanning documents
  11. Transcription of dictation and/or proofreading dictation from an external center
  12. Other duties related to administration of the practice

Qualifications

  1. At least 3 (three) years of experience as a Legal Assistant
  2. Experience in insurance defense, health law or dispute resolution and advocacy is an asset
  3. Deep familiarity with The Rules of Civil Procedure, particularly as it pertains to service rules and deadlines
  4. A keen attention to detail and strong organization skills
  5. A strong work ethic
  6. The ability to work effectively on a team and individually
  7. Excellent communication skills
  8. Experience with technology and working in a remote/hybrid environment
  9. Experience with Relativity and Document Management Systems is an asset
