We are looking for a Legal Assistant to support our Health Law and Insurance Defence practice groups in Toronto. The ideal candidate will have over three years of experience in a similar role. The position involves managing administrative tasks for busy associates involved in regulatory and civil litigation. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days in the office or as needed.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Scheduling calls, meetings, and appointments
  2. Requesting conflict checks, opening, and closing files
  3. Communicating with clients, experts, service providers, and courts
  4. Drafting, sending, replying to correspondence
  5. Compiling, serving, and filing court documents
  6. Maintaining calendars and effective BF system
  7. Preparing and sending invoices, communicating billing matters
  8. Drafting documents based on precedents
  9. First point of contact for prospective clients
  10. Organizing and registering for events and conferences
  11. Organizing expense reports
  12. File maintenance, scanning, uploading into DMS
  13. Performing other administrative duties
Qualifications
  1. At least 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in litigation
  2. Experience in Health Law, Insurance, or civil litigation is an asset
  3. Deep knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules, especially service rules and deadlines
  4. Attention to detail
  5. Strong organizational and time management skills
  6. Work ethic and self-motivation
  7. Ability to work independently and in a team
  8. Excellent communication skills
  9. Experience with remote/hybrid work and technology such as ACL, Case Center, JSO portal, RelativityOne, iManage, OneDrive
