Legal Assistant – Health Law and Dispute Resolution & Advocacy – 3+ Years - London (Hybrid)

Join Lerners LLP as a Legal Assistant supporting our Health Law and Dispute Resolution & Advocacy practice groups in London, Ontario. This hybrid role requires a minimum of three days in the office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Answering and responding to telephone calls.
  • Scheduling calls and meetings.
  • Requesting conflict checks; opening and closing files.
  • Communicating with clients, experts, tribunal staff, and court staff.
  • Drafting, sending, and replying to correspondence.
  • Compiling, serving, and filing motion records and other court or tribunal documents.
  • Maintaining calendars and an effective bring forward (BF) system.
  • Preparing and sending invoices to clients.
  • Transcription of dictation and/or proofreading dictation transcribed by a transcription centre.
  • File maintenance and organization including scanning and uploading into DMS.
  • Compiling, uploading, and sending documents externally via secure file transfer sites.
  • Performing other administrative duties related to the practice.

Qualifications

  • Over three (3) years of experience as a Legal Assistant.
  • Experience in Health Law and/or General Civil Litigation.
  • Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure, especially service rules and deadlines (asset).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Reliable work ethic and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with technology and remote/hybrid work environments.
  • Experience with ACL, Case Center, Justice Services Online (JSO), RelativityOne, iManage, and OneDrive (asset).
