Job Details

We are seeking a Legal Assistant to support the Dispute Resolution & Advocacy practice group in Toronto. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in a similar role. This is a Hybrid position requiring a minimum of 4 days in office. Occasionally, based on business needs, the candidate may need to work onsite up to 5 days a week, with notice.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Scheduling calls, meetings, and appointments
  • Requesting conflict checks, opening and closing files
  • Communicating with clients, experts, service providers, and courts
  • Drafting, sending, and replying to correspondence
  • Compiling, serving, and filing court documents
  • Maintaining calendars and effective BF system
  • Preparing and sending invoices, communicating billing matters
  • Drafting documents based on precedents
  • First point of contact for prospective clients
  • Organizing events, conferences, and registrations
  • Managing expense reports
  • Transcribing and proofreading dictation
  • File maintenance, scanning, uploading into DMS
  • Other administrative duties
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in Litigation
  • Experience in commercial litigation is an asset
  • Familiarity with The Rules of Civic Procedure
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with technology and hybrid work environment
  • Experience with Case Center and JSO portal required
  • Experience with ACL, RelativityOne, iManage, or OneDrive is an asset
