Legal Assistant Opportunities

We offer Legal Assistant roles across all our Practice Groups, based at any of our offices nationwide:

  • Administrative Law: Environmental Law, Health, Immigration, Labour & Employment
  • Business Law: Capital Markets & Securities, Corporate, Financial Services, Insolvency, Intellectual Property, Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Litigation: Commercial, Constructions, Estates & Trusts, Family Law, Insurance Defence
  • Real Estate: Condominium Development and Governance, Transactions, Land Development, Municipal Law, Leasing
  • Tax: Charities & Not-for-Profit, Corporate Tax, Litigation, Private Client Services

Legal Assistants support lawyers in these areas. Previous experience is helpful but not mandatory; strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a desire to develop as a Legal Assistant are valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support including proofreading, document preparation, and transcription.
  • Act as liaison between internal and external parties, routing or responding to correspondence.
  • Support clerical tasks such as photocopying, faxing, scheduling, mail handling, travel arrangements, and scanning documents.
  • Assist with accounting and billing, including reviewing pre-bills, making corrections, and preparing final bills.
  • Maintain files according to standard procedures, including conflict searches.
  • Perform other business-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Community College Certificate/Diploma in Legal Secretarial or Office Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 2013.
  • Strong knowledge of English language, spelling, and word usage.
  • Exceptional client service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proofreading and drafting skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple files.
  • Knowledge of accounting software.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills.
