We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our team in Calgary.

Responsibilities

  • Handling file opening & closing procedures
  • Drafting various correspondence and pleadings
  • Setting Questionings, Mediations, Applications, and other various appointments / meetings, and preparing required documentation for same
  • Communicating with courts, experts, court reporters, process servers, interpreters, etc.
  • Submitting / sending pleadings for filing and service
  • Interacting with clients by phone, email, and in-person
  • Providing support to a team of 3 lawyers
  • Delegating tasks to a junior-level Legal Administrative Assistant on the team
  • Maintaining Filing system including bring-forward system
  • Performing various related duties, as required

What will help you succeed in this role?

  • Graduate of a Legal Administrative Assistant program
  • Minimum 3-5+ years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant in a litigation practice
  • Excellent English oral and written skills
  • Professional manner in communication with clients
  • Strong administration and organization skills
  • Able to draft standard correspondence and documents with minimal supervision
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Litigation experience required
