Qualifications

Hours

Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, with some evenings, weekends, or extended hours as required.

Opportunity

This position is with our Good Shepherd - Women's Services - Community Support Services.

How You Will Make An Impact
  • Support cis women, trans, and non-binary individuals who have experienced gender-based violence and are navigating the legal system.
  • Assist individuals in accessing resources and understanding their rights.
  • Advocate for a responsive and accountable legal system for those affected by gender-based and intimate partner violence.
  • Provide respectful, culturally competent services to diverse and marginalized communities.
  • Address systemic barriers faced by women, trans, non-binary, and gender-fluid individuals within the legal system.
  • Participate in planning, attending, and supporting public education initiatives and community events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and facilitate group activities.
  • Participate in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs and procedures, ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act to minimize risks to clients, staff, and property.
What You'll Bring To Our Team
  • Completed post-secondary education in social justice, criminology, law, or legal studies.
  • Thorough knowledge of issues such as gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, mental health, substance use, and harm reduction.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, domestic violence legislation, immigration systems, family law, and the family court system.
  • Minimum of two years' experience working with individuals who have experienced gender-based violence.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, public speaking, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to speak French or other languages is an asset.
  • Commitment to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices, aligned with Good Shepherd's mission and values.
