LEGAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – Civil Litigation
On behalf of our client, one of BC's Top Employers in 2026, we are currently seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to support their civil litigation team. The position provides an opportunity to work with a vibrant and team oriented group of people. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a large Canadian law firm, be energetic, flexible, highly motivated and driven to succeed.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Liaise with other legal assistants, paralegals, lawyers
- Draft and transcribe legal documents, basic pleadings and correspondence
- Manage and maintain bring forward system for tasks and appointments
- Organize meetings and schedule discoveries, trials, and other court dates
- Prepare application records
- Field client inquiries
- Keep files up to date, including creating binders for court
- Process all outgoing correspondence and sort incoming mail
- Prepare expense reports
- Prepare monthly accounts
- Other general administrative duties as required
Must haves
- Completion of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant
- Advanced computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook
- Keyboarding at a minimum or 60wpm
- Excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills
- A thorough understanding of civil litigation rules and procedures
- Ability work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work and multiple lawyers in a fast‑paced environment
- Exposure to or experience with CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) considered an asset
- Excellent written (grammar, spelling, proofreading) and verbal communication skills
- High level organizational skills with a strong attention to detail to produce quality and accurate work
- Ability to prioritize tasks by deadline, work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work in a fast‑paced environment
- Proven ability to take initiative and be proactive, as well as follow instructions and adhere to strict deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a contributing member in a team environment
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $69,000 - $76,000+ annually, which represents a fair market value and estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant education, experience and qualifications.
