Job description

We're seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to join our client's legal team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

What We Offer :

Salary : $28.85 / hour

Job Type / Shift : Monday-Friday 9am-1pm, 20 hours plus a week in office

What You'll Do

  • Read and analyze incoming memos, letters, and reports to determine their significance and distribute them appropriately.
  • Transcribe dictations using appropriate format, produce documents, correspondence, and handle all follow-up work as directed.
  • Coordinate invoice routing and monitor payments to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Enter and maintain client and prospect data in automated systems.
  • Communicate regularly with the court and the supervising lawyer regarding ongoing proceedings.

What We're Looking For :

  • Graduate of a legal assistant / paralegal program or equivalent training and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal assistant role; previous legal assistant experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, email, spreadsheets, and managing files and records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Superior typing and dictation-transcription skills.
  • Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to check for grammatical, typographical, spelling, diction, and formatting errors.
