Job description

We are currently looking for a Legacy Interface Platform QA Engineer to join the Service Aggregation Router (SAR) family of products team. The SAR product family is considered the Swiss army knife product for mission-critical services in the Transport, Energy, and Public Sector markets because of its capability to support low-speed legacy interfaces up to high-speed Ethernet interfaces, all over an IP/MPLS secured network.

You will be responsible for developing, modifying, and executing comprehensive software test plans, ensuring they align with established standards and procedures. You will meticulously document test results, providing valuable insights to assist in debugging and refining the software. Your analytical skills will be crucial in evaluating test outcomes, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending corrective actions to ensure the software's functionality and performance meet the highest standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems, Software, Electrical, or Communications, or equivalent
  • Experience and knowledge of programming languages (preferably scripting languages such as TCL, Python, Perl, shell)
  • A drive towards best practices and high-quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience using source control software (e.g., GIT)
  • Familiarity with networking test tools (IXIA, Spirent, IPerf, Wireshark, etc.)
  • Knowledge of legacy interface technologies like T1/E1, C37.94, Serial (RS232/RS485/RS422)
  • Knowledge of CESoPSN service protection such as Pseudo Wire (PW) redundancy
  • Ability to work well independently but also as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, IP routing, MPLS, and optical transceivers

Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of the qualification of new adapters supporting legacy interfaces like T1/E1, C37.94, Serial (RS232/RS485/RS422)
  • Take charge of the qualification of services like CESoPSN, Asymmetry Delay Control (ADC) feature used for teleprotection relays, T1/E1 protection
  • Plan regression testbeds and the necessary gear to execute the test plan
  • Develop and enhance automated test cases in a Linux-based regression environment
  • Troubleshoot issues and work closely with functional area developers from the software and hardware teams to investigate and resolve bugs
  • Apply industry best practices in software development, configuration management, and quality assurance design and automation
