Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time position as a Lecturer in Equine Theriogenology in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (https://wcvm.usask.ca/departments/large-clinical.php) at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). The appointment will be for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal, and will focus on delivering high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels while providing clinical expertise in support of the College’s service mandate.

This position entails a 75% commitment to the equine theriogenology clinical service of the Veterinary Medical Centre (https://vmc.usask.ca/) while providing supervision and instruction to undergraduate students – primarily those in the fourth or final year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program – as well as interns and residents. The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s teaching responsibilities, including lectures, laboratories, and demonstrations in Years 1 to 3 of the DVM curriculum, and graduate courses. The remaining 25% of the appointment will be devoted to research, administrative responsibilities, and related activities.

Applicants must possess a DVM degree or equivalent, have completed an approved residency in theriogenology, be either certified, i.e., a Diplomate, of the American College of Theriogenologists or be eligible for certification at the time of appointment, and have earned an advanced degree in a related discipline. They must also be eligible to work in Canada and must possess an appropriate Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association license (https://svma.sk.ca/become-a-member/dvm/) by the start of the appointment.

The Equine Theriogenology Service currently operates with one faculty member who will be on a one-year sabbatical leave beginning on July 1, 2027, as well as two Residents and a Specialty Intern. This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion of clinical services in assisted reproductive technologies.

Located within the WCVM, the Veterinary Medical Centre is a state-of-the-art AVMA- and AAHA-accredited hospital and referral centre. It offers specialty services and training in anesthesia; behavior; dentistry; dermatology; exotic, wild, and zoo animal medicine; internal medicine; medical imaging; nutrition; oncology; ophthalmology; radiation oncology; rehabilitation; surgery; and theriogenology.

The salary band for this position for the 2026-2027 academic year is $95,187 to $139,203. Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
