Job description

Devon Properties is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Leasing Manager to join our team in Victoria, BC. This role is ideal for someone who excels at both team leadership and direct leasing activities. You'll lead a growing team of Leasing Specialists, providing regular mentorship and training, while actively contributing to leasing operations and strategic initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Property Management, the Leasing Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day leasing operations, optimizing occupancy and rental rates, and driving business performance across a portfolio of multi-family residential properties.

Key Responsibilities

Leasing Operations & Strategy

  • Analyze market trends, traffic data, and leasing metrics to develop strategies that drive occupancy and optimize rental rates
  • Collaborate with Marketing to execute targeted campaigns and increase lead generation across multiple platforms
  • Identify and implement improvements to leasing processes and tools, including contributing to the rollout of an AI leasing assistant, application process enhancements, and tenant experience improvements
  • Maintain and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, including leasing performance, suite pricing, and occupancy trends
  • Coordinate with property management to ensure units are market-ready and consistently meet Devon’s presentation standards
  • Review and approve lease documentation for accuracy and compliance before final execution by licensed personnel
  • Lead by example through active participation in leasing efforts, including showings, tenant communication, and support during high-volume periods or staffing gaps

Team Leadership & Development

  • Directly manage, coach, and support a team of Leasing Specialists
  • Conduct regular site visits, one-on-one coaching sessions, and weekly performance check-ins
  • Deliver hands-on training and mentorship to support professional development and performance goals
  • Promote compliance with internal policies, industry best practices, and BC leasing regulations
  • Lead by example by participating in day-to-day leasing activities, troubleshooting leasing challenges, and engaging directly with tenants
  • Maintain compliance with the BC Real Estate Services Act

Qualifications & Experience

  • Willingness to obtain a Rental Property Management License (within 8 months)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, marketing, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role with direct reports
  • Proven experience in residential leasing, ideally in the multi-family apartment sector
  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working evenings and weekends as needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and leasing/CRM software
  • Organized, data-driven, and capable of working independently while managing a team
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
