Job Summary

As a learning experience design and development expert, collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues to plan, design, and develop learner-centric learning experiences that enable continuous learning. This role is responsible for using design thinking and incorporating elements of education, experiences, exposure, and the environment along with up-to-date adult learning principles to create learning solutions that increase learner engagement, enhance retention, develop capabilities, improve time to proficiency, and aid knowledge transfer to help achieve business outcomes.

Major Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide workplace learning performance advice and expertise in scoping, planning, and creating learning strategies that balance client goals, business needs, and technology considerations by:
    1. Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, business partners, and subject matter experts across the organization and/or external vendors, articulating technical concepts in plain language
    2. Advising on the selection of appropriate learning modalities, media, methods, and delivery channels to deliver learning and assess performance
    3. Staying current in instructional design, learning technologies, workplace learning, and performance improvement trends, research, and best practices
    4. Providing advice, direction, and leadership on learning best practices, experience design, and technical writing
    5. Contributing to standards, style guides, templates, and project planning processes
    6. Leading the execution of deliverables, tracking, and reporting
  • Apply a design thinking approach to perform learning needs analysis and technology needs assessments by:
    1. Conducting client meetings, focus groups, interviews, surveys, observations, etc., to understand performance gaps and create empathy maps, learner personas, and experience maps
    2. Writing performance-based learning objectives to close performance gaps
    3. Collaborating with subject matter experts to develop effective learning products
    4. Organizing and updating learning content, assessing, and customizing learning resources
  • Design and develop performance-based, cohesive end-to-end learning experiences for moments that matter in training and work flow, including writing experience design documents and evaluation plans.
  • Design and develop learning products using various media, modalities, and methods, including virtual and in-person training, social networks, self-paced eLearning, podcasts, videos, simulations, and mobile applications, leveraging authoring tools like Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, and Microsoft 365.
  • Create, acquire, or select appropriate visual and audio elements to support learning content and ensure quality standards.
  • Evaluate learning products by designing measurement and evaluation plans, analyzing results, and making recommendations for revisions.
  • Support the implementation of learning solutions through training, planning, publishing content, and assisting facilitators and learners.
  • Maintain and update learning programs to ensure content is current and effective, collaborating with managers and subject matter experts.
  • Champion inclusive design by ensuring accessibility and performing user experience testing with assistive technologies, adhering to AODA and web accessibility standards.
  • Act as a change agent by supporting staff in accepting organizational or legislative changes through high-quality learning design.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
Education
  • University completion at undergraduate level with specialization in education, adult education, instructional design, or related fields, or a diploma/certificate in workplace learning, eLearning development, graphic design, or user experience design.
Experience
  • Five years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, learning development, or related areas.
