Foundations for the Future Charter Academy (FFCA) - South Middle School Campus in Calgary is seeking a Learning Assistant for a probationary position beginning October 5, 2026. The role supports instructional delivery, teacher assistance, and student progress under the guidance of campus leadership.

The ideal candidate has completion or enrollment in a recognized Teacher Assistant program, with a passion for using instructional technology and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Certification from or enrollment in a recognized Teacher Assistant Program is required.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience and those who demonstrate the following qualities: a supportive and caring manner with children; commitment to using instructional technologies; ability to create a safe online learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support under the teacher’s guidance.
• Track and report student progress.
• Marking and recording students’ work; communicate with classroom teachers on student instruction issues.
• Review grade-appropriate curricular material with students and provide additional support as indicated by the teacher(s).

South Middle School Campus

Located in Calgary, Foundations for the Future Charter Academy (FFCA) is the largestpublic charter school in Alberta, serving over 4000 students in eight campusesthroughout the city. We offer educational programming through a distinctive DirectInstruction Teaching and Learning Framework (DITLF) that has been refined anddeveloped within the Alberta context for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Ourmission is to provide a safe and caring environment where the four pillars of our charter,namely academic excellence, character development, parental involvement and staffleadership are valued and fostered.A Learning Assistant is required for a probationary position at the South Middle SchoolCampus beginning October 5, 2026.The Learning Assistant will work under the direction of the Principal, providinginstructional support, teacher support and student support as requested by the teacherand administration.

ResponsibilitiesTo include but not limited to:

Instructional Support

• Providing instructional support under teacher’s guidance
• Tracking and reporting student progress
• Diagnostic testing for reporting purposes
• Preparing instructional materials

Teacher Support

• Marking and recording students’ work
• Communicating regularly with classroom teachers on student related instructionissues

Student Support

• Reviewing of grade appropriate curricular material with students asassigned by the teacher
• Providing additional support to those students as indicated by theteacher(s)

Other related duties as assigned
