Job summary

DCL International Inc is seeking a Lean Manufacturing Engineer to improve manufacturing processes, productivity, quality, and efficiency across its operations. The role focuses on reducing waste, improving production flow, and supporting safe and cost-effective manufacturing of emissions control products.

The engineer will work with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process improvement, or continuous improvement roles.
  • Experience in metal fabrication shop and exposure to low to medium volume, high product mix environments.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, automotive, exhaust systems, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Hands-on Lean Manufacturing implementation in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of welding, fabrication, machining, or assembly.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop robust manufacturing concepts to simplify and improve processes and ensure best practices.
  • Evaluate current manufacturing practices to support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Continuously monitor manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to product specifications and requirements.
  • Optimize facility layouts, production lines, and machine operations.
  • Conduct studies to optimize inventory levels and improve utilization of equipment, materials, and resources.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation and process standards.
  • Support new product introductions, tooling improvements, and manufacturing projects.
  • Analyze production data and manufacturing performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operations.

Job description

The Lean Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, productivity, quality, and efficiency across DCL’s operations. The role focuses on reducing waste, improving production flow, and supporting safe and cost-effective manufacturing of emissions control products.

The position works with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experience working in a custom-designed metal fabrication shop is highly valued. Exposure to low to medium volume, high product mix manufacturing environments would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, automotive, exhaust systems, or industrial manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including welding, fabrication, machining, or assembly.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
