Cumberland Paving and Contracting, part of Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate materials, highway operations, and maintenance services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience in pipe installation, drainage, or related activities
  • Lead Hand / supervisory experience with strong leadership skills
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends, when required
  • Class 5 Driving License and own transportation to and from work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanically inclined
  • Successful completion of compliance-based courses (Excavation and Trenching, Confined Space, Fall Protection, etc.)

Day In The Life

As a Lead Hand, your primary responsibility is to work closely with your crew to ensure they safely and efficiently complete daily tasks set out by the foreman. You’ll usually be replacing catch basins, installing new lead pipes, driveway and cross culverts, and other types of pipe work. Additionally, your crew will assist in prepping operations such as curb removals and grade work. Attention to detail will be imperative to ensure all products meet the highest quality standards and specifications.
