About The Role
The Leadership Giving Officer is responsible for building and growing a portfolio of donors who are invested in philanthropic support of MRU and MRU Students. This includes the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with a focus on those at the leadership giving level, those who give $1,000 to $25,000 annually. The Leadership Giving Officer (LGO) will be responsible for the renewal of annual awards, working closely with the internal colleagues and teams in the awards area. Working with the broader development team, the LGO will identify giving priorities and opportunities. Along with their face-to-face fundraising responsibilities the LGO will contribute to the overall work to engage, solicit and steward annual giving donors with a goal of elevating those donors to the leadership giving level. The Leadership Giving Officer is a member of the Foundation team and reports to the Manager, Annual Giving and Gift Compliance.
This is a full time permanent position, working 35 hours per week. This position also may require work outside of regular hours for event participation and stewardship activities. This position is also eligible for MRU’s hybrid work program.
Responsibilities
Responsibility 1 (75%): Leadership Giving
- Develop their assigned leadership giving portfolio, including donor qualification, cultivation, and solicitation, and stewardship
- First point of contact for leadership level giving inquiries
- Work closely with Annual Giving and Awards Officer and/or Manager, ACGC to create, renew and steward annual award donors
- Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of the case for support for priority fundraising initiatives at Mount Royal
- Work closely with internal partners across campus on fundraising initiatives
- Identify potential constituent groups for ongoing philanthropic engagement
- Able to attend events outside of regular working hours on occasion
Responsibility 2 (10%): Annual Giving
- Assist in planning giving campaigns for constituent groups that may or may not include leadership donors
- Respond to Annual Giving inquiries (email, phone)
- Assist with strategic planning for Leadership and Annual Giving Team
Responsibility 3 (15%): Administrative Tasks
- Participating in regular fundraising meetings with colleagues and team meetings
- Managing prospect/donor relationships and maintaining contact history using RENXT CRM
Qualifications
Other duties as assigned.
- Three or Four Year Bachelor Degree or Equivalent experience
- Educational background in nonprofit management or CFRE designation an asset
- Strong technical writing skills required
- Ability to work independently and use independent judgment to troubleshoot issues
- Effective communication skills, positive attitude, creative thinking and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational skills, effective at managing multiple priorities and working against deadlines
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
- Experience working with external and internal clients, donors, volunteers
- Research skills, ability to use and extrapolate data from RENXT
Salary: $60,571 - $76,640 per annum
