Leader, Patient Safety, Quality & Accreditation - Molecular Imaging and Therapy

At PHSA, the Leader of Patient Safety, Quality & Accreditation (PSQA) at BC Cancer (Molecular Imaging and Therapy) works in a complex, multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with medical and operational leadership, staff, Indigenous Health teams, patients, and families. The role is crucial in supporting timely patient safety event reviews and leading quality and safety initiatives to meet accreditation standards. Remote work is supported, but on-site presence at a regional BC Cancer Centre is required as needed.

The PSQA leader assists senior management in planning, implementing, and monitoring quality improvement programs, focusing on continuous improvement. They collaborate across departments to prioritize projects and evaluate processes.

Preferred clinical experience as a specialized PET Technologist.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop, implement, and evaluate quality indicators; prioritize initiatives; create educational materials and tools for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement (PS&QI).
  2. Align program safety activities with accreditation standards; provide accreditation education; lead responses to accreditation recommendations.
  3. Lead safety reviews such as Root Cause Analysis and Failure Modes Effect Analysis; monitor staff perceptions of safety, risk, and quality.
  4. Educate staff on regulatory issues, new guidelines, and risk management activities.
  5. Identify and evaluate new trends and initiatives in PS&QI, contributing to department improvements.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or related health discipline.
  • At least five years of clinical practice or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples' health disparities, systemic racism, and cultural safety, with a commitment to anti-racism and equity.
  • Understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous rights and anti-racism policies.
Core Competencies
  • Understanding of systemic racism and Indigenous cultural safety, with experience in initiatives to promote equity and safety.
  • Knowledge of social determinants of health and legislative frameworks.
Additional Skills
  • Knowledge of clinical care standards, accreditation requirements, and quality management.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and evaluation skills, including statistical analysis.
  • Ability to support team education on Indigenous Cultural Safety and work collaboratively with Indigenous departments.
  • Commitment to personal growth in understanding racism and systemic oppression.

Salary: $88,990 - $127,923, based on experience
Location: Provincial, remote work with on-site requirements
