Job description

This position could be located in the following location(s) : NOVA Head Office – Calgary, AB

  • This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

NOVA Chemicals, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is wholly-owned by Mubadala Investment Company of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

We are seeking a Leader, Feedstock Operations, who will be instrumental in advancing NOVA Chemicals’ feedstock strategies that will maximize long-term value for our polyethylene (PE) products. Reporting to the Vice President, Energy, Feedstock & Infrastructure, this influential and collaborative role is responsible for the day-to-day management and optimization of commercial arrangements to ensure NOVA Chemicals’ feedstock portfolio is industry cost competitive and reliable.

You Will Use Your Expertise To :

  • Manage the commercial operations of NOVA Chemicals’ feedstock supply arrangements, including establishing and maintaining relationships with ethane suppliers and service providers
  • Lead and mentor Feedstock Operations team
  • Lead feedstock operations, contract compliance and short-term optimization of contracts
  • Lead feedstock inventory management and optimization
  • Lead feedstock budgeting, forecasting, reporting, internal compliance and 3rd party audits
  • Hold accountability for the successful resolution of daily operational issues ensuring contract compliance
  • Identify and capture short term supply opportunities through commercial arrangements
  • Support negotiations in respect of contracting long-term feedstock and infrastructure contracts and opportunities
  • Support generation of the feedstock strategy ensuring alignment with corporate vision
  • Lead the creation of supply forecasts and monitor operational performance of the portfolio
  • Effectively communicate portfolio performance to senior leadership
  • Leverage knowledge of industry dynamics to evaluate risks and opportunities, develop, and make recommendations on commercial prospects with a goal of optimizing feedstock acquisition costs for NOVA Chemicals’ manufacturing facilities.
  • Work cross-functionally with other business teams to generate new commercial opportunities that will improve NOVA Chemicals’ overall performance.

What We Are Looking For :

  • University graduate with a degree in business, engineering, or finance with 10+ years of industry related experience and continued professional development or 14+ years combination of post-secondary, industry related experience and continued professional development
  • Excellent planning, time management, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate with various levels of the organization to achieve goals
  • Ability to influence outcomes cross functionally and at all levels in the organization
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Team player with strong leadership and collaboration skills

  • Knowledge of the North American natural gas and natural gas liquids industry will be an asset
