Job summary

GHD is seeking a Project Manager to join our Ontario Transportation Group in Canada. The role will lead highway planning and preliminary design projects from proposal through close-out, coordinating across engineering disciplines and stakeholders.

The hybrid work model combines in-office collaboration with flexible scheduling. The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree, a P.Eng (or eligible), and 10+ years of transportation project experience, including client engagement with MTO and

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering.
• Ontario P.Eng designation required (or eligible).
• 10+ years' experience in design and engineering of transportation infrastructure projects, including project management experience.
• Experience working with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
• Experience working with other highway agencies and municipal transportation clients would be an asset.
• Experience managing design projects in collaborative models (e.g. Progressive Design-Build, Alliance, CMGC) would be an asset.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven track record to develop, mentor, and lead professional technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: lead highway planning projects for MTO and similar clients as a Project Manager and/or Assistant Project Manager.
• Project Management: manage all aspects of the management of projects from proposal to close-out, including budgets, schedule, quality, safety and client satisfaction.
• Coaching and Mentoring: provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
• Collaboration: teamwork across disciplines to deliver high-quality project deliverables.
• Project Team Management: manage staff performance, workload and development.
• Leadership and Direction: promote best practices and leadership in transportation projects.
• Supporting Business Development including capture planning and leading proposals.
• Stakeholder Management: develop and execute business development strategy for clients and proposals.
• Project Delivery: apply transportation solutions including corridor planning, preliminary design, ITS and bridge rehabilitation and expansion strategies.
• Driving high quality results and client satisfaction to grow the transportation portfolio.
