Job summary

EXP is seeking a Lead Traffic Engineer / Project Manager in Ontario. The role involves leading a team delivering transportation planning and traffic operations analyses, including complex traffic impact studies and master plans, with client-facing reporting and frequent coordination with municipal authorities and MTO.

The candidate will manage projects, supervise junior staff, and contribute to business development while maintaining high standards of quality and communication. A P.Eng.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Civil Engineering experience, preferably with Ontario authorities.
  • P.Eng. designation required; RAQS certification or eligible.
  • Strong project management and client relationship skills.
  • Proficient in traffic software: Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsum, EMME.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license (G2) and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

This opportunity offers a team leadership position with our growing and dynamic team of transportation professionals. We are seeking a Lead Traffic Engineer/Project Manager with project management experience and entrepreneurial spirit to continue to build our transportation planning and operational analysis business lines, and to take their career to the next level.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Develop and supervise a team, which handles transportation planning and traffic operations analyses associated with:

  • Complex traffic impact studies for land development.
  • Environmental assessment and construction traffic impact analyses.
  • Transportation master plans;Operational analysis, including micro-simulation.
  • Project Manager for Traffic tasks and projects.
  • Maintain client communications; prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and with quality control.
  • Oversee the assessments and preparation of reports, drawings and other deliverables prepared by junior staff.
  • Attend public/private meetings and make presentations as a representative of EXP and /or our clients to municipal Road authorities and MTO.
  • Assist in business development activities to continue to grow our group.
  • Make a positive contribution to the overall team culture and environment.
What your experience looks like
  • Degree in Civil Engineering with 10+ years of related experience, preferably with Ontario Municipal Road and Provincial authorities and land development.
  • RAQS (Registry, Appraisal and Qualification System) certification for Traffic Impact Analysis, or qualifications to certify.
  • P. Eng. designation with PEO is required.
  • Experience in project management, report preparation, and client relationship management.
  • Proficient in the application of specialized traffic assessments and/or transportation planning software (Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsum and EMME).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience leading and working on Transportation Master Plan projects is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that focus on meeting customer requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as advanced technical writing abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • ITE Canada membership desired.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license (minimum G2).

The salary range for this role is between$106.4K - $141.1K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
