Summary

The Lead Technician is an experienced video specialist that is responsible for the setup, operation, and dismantle of events in a technically correct and efficient manner, ensuring that the client’s vision is realized. Acting as a lead onsite, this individual is responsible for the seamless execution of audiovisual functions. The Lead Technician is also responsible for reviewing all event information with the Operations Manager or Production Manager prior to the event, and providing first class service and attitude to all clients, venue teams and guests throughout the event execution process. This role will have a specific focus on operation and management of Livestream events, hosted both virtually and in a hybrid environment, as well as traditional video aspects.

Job Duties:

  • Load in, setup, operation, dismantle and load out of audio-visual elements in a technically correct and efficient manner
  • Collaborate with members of the Production team to create signal flow diagrams, and on-site plans as required
  • Read and review equipment manifests and event related documents
  • Provide support and training as required on-site to other members of the production team
  • Complete inspection forms and daily reports as required
  • Comply with company, industry, and legislative health & safety policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
  • Relay critical information from the jobsite back to the office
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times
  • Provide proactive and solutions oriented approach to client engagement
  • Lead crews as an on-site technical lead for overall event success
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma is required. Post-secondary education in event production, technical production, music production, or equivalent training is preferred
  • 5+ years of audio-visual experience required; specifically
  • Experience using Roland V-800 switchers (or equivalent) required
  • Experience with media servers required (specifically Watchout, Resolume)
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides required
  • Experience using Theatrixx LED Totems preferred
  • Experience with LED Walls and Processing required (familiarity with Novastar products preferred)
  • Work experience with video converters (ie. Theatrixx, Black Magic, Decimator) required
  • Work experience with professional playback devices and software required
  • Proficiency with the use of computer hardware, software, and programs, including the Internet, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • 2+ years of experience operating and managing livestream events is required
  • 2+ years of experience using Vmix is required
  • Experience using operating Open Broadcast Software (OBS), Teams, Zoom, Google Meet is required
  • Experience creating signal flow documentation is required
  • Proficient in oral and written communication in English
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Experience working in a hotel and/or event venue environment is an asset
  • Working at heights and MEWP certification are an asset
  • Experience using digital audio consoles is an asset
  • Experience managing microphones, placement and wireless frequencies is an asset
  • Experience with Crestron and QSYS systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of current workplace health & safety regulations, fire & building codes, and AODA regulations in relation to the live entertainment industry is an asset
