Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals – the fastest growing rental business in Canada – is seeking an experienced Lead Technician, Power & HVAC to join our team! As a Lead Technician, you will serve as a technical expert and field leader responsible for supporting customers and branch operations across a broad geographic region.

This position requires significant travel to customer sites and branch locations to perform advanced diagnostics, commissioning, repairs, preventive maintenance, and emergency service on

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school or equivalent training preferred.
• Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification required.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel generators, power distribution systems, HVAC equipment, chillers, heaters, or related industrial equipment.
• Valid driver's license with ability to travel extensively throughout Western Canada.
• Experience in a senior technician, lead technician, or supervisory capacity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on Power & HVAC rental equipment.
• Travel to customer sites to provide emergency breakdown response, commissioning, startup, and technical support.
• Perform load bank testing, preventive maintenance inspections, and operational performance verification.
• Support large-scale temporary power and climate control projects.
• Mentor technicians and provide technical guidance on complex repairs and troubleshooting procedures.
• Coordinate with operations, sales, and branch leadership to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
• Promote Sunbelt's safety culture and ensure compliance with all policies and regulations.
• Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of long-term equipment reliability solutions.

You will play a critical role in ensuring maximum equipment uptime while mentoring technicians and supporting operational excellence.Our Power & HVAC fleet includes diesel generators, load banks, transformers, distribution equipment, air conditioners, chillers, cooling towers, heaters, and related ancillary equipment.
