Fueling Brains Academy is seeking a Lead Teacher at our West 85th Campus. Our Left-Brain environment is inspired by the Maria Montessori philosophy, emphasizing creativity, imagination, social skills, and children’s interests in the curriculum. As a Lead Teacher, you will create an environment that inspires children to think outside the box and explore with their senses. Your role involves observing, following, and documenting children’s interests and curiosities as they develop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare lessons tailored to individual student differences and develop their executive functions.
  • Plan work cycles to expand logic and nurture students' natural curiosity.
  • Maintain a stimulating environment to facilitate growth, exploration, and participation.
  • Assess student learning styles and development to inform lesson planning.
  • Supervise and plan activities for assistant teachers and volunteers.
  • Utilize technologies and the Fueling Brains app to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan and implement weekly lessons.
  • Model respectful behavior and guide children to respect themselves and others.
  • Engage with parents/guardians to support the child's educational success.
  • Supervise children to ensure safety indoors and during outdoor activities.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay informed about early childhood research.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum three years of experience in a Montessori-inspired setting.
  • Early Childhood Certification and Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Montessori Diploma/Certificate.
  • Alberta Child Care Certification Level 2 or higher.
  • Current First Aid Certification.
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks within the past 6 months.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs, especially when working with infants and toddlers.
  • Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Leadership experience in a classroom is an asset.

  • Open-minded, inspiring, trustworthy, and patient.
  • Willing to perform diapering, cleaning, multitasking, and other essential duties.
  • Natural teaching ability with professionalism.
