Job description

Since 2012, Northstar has expanded from its original location in Southern Ontario, and now operates from 6 branches across Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and Alberta, employing more than 350+ experienced professionals.
We are currently hiring a Lead Swing Stage Rigger. In this position, you will be responsible for the safe installation, relocation and dismantling of swing stages while being highly focused on safety and attention to detail.

Swing Stage Rigger Responsibilities:

•Develop a plan pursuant to scope of project/ estimate to properly and safely complete the installation, relocation, and dismantling of swing stages
•Create equipment lists for swing stage setups and track equipment/inventory used on job sites
•Perform swing stage inspections to ensure structures have not been compromised
•Responsible for anchoring off with fall arrest systems and following protocols to remove the potential of falling objects and workers
•Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by adhering to safe work practices and the Northstar Scaffold Safety Philosophy
•Follow applicable Contractor’s Safety Procedures, OH&S, and Provincial Safety requirements are adhered to
•Take the lead or assist with simple equipment troubleshooting and service calls for existing projects/customers
•Use and clean tools required on the worksite and assist with equipment maintenance and repairs
•Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

•5+ years experience rigging and inspecting swing stage installations (including 1-2 years in a lead role)
•Up to date, user, and installer suspended work platform certification
•G class license with a clean driver's abstract

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•Familiarity with Tractel Tirak 501’s or Power Climber PC3 Hoists considered an asset (Note: Training will be provided)
•Familiarity with maintaining suspended work platform components including platforms, hoists, electrical components an asset
•Up-to-date with regulation requirements regarding suspended work platform systems
•Understanding of load limits and knowledge of inspection of equipment
•Reliable means of transportation
•Mechanical and logical reasoning abilities
•Knowledge of fall arrest and fall protection practices coupled with the physical dexterity and capability of working at heights
•Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
•Capable of carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs and occasionally up to 100lbs
•Effective verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment
•Collaborate with crew members and other trades while working on job sites
•Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision under tight time constraints
