Job summary

Bird Construction seeks a Superintendent - Buildings East to lead on a major building project in Bedford, Nova Scotia. You will direct subcontractors, champion safety, and manage day-to-day field operations to meet schedule and quality objectives.

The role requires proven General Contracting experience on large commercial or institutional projects, with a background in carpentry and Gold Seal certification considered an asset. You will mentor the site team and coordinate with the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Progressive leadership experience as a Superintendent in commercial/institutional construction.
• Strong ability to supervise field crews, coordinate subcontractors and track performance.
• Excellent reading of contract drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership and monitor field staff and subcontractors.
• Lead and develop site team through coaching, feedback, and evaluations.
• Contribute to development and refinement of the project schedule.
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders and change notices.
• Identify design deficiencies and schedule issues; collaborate with PM to resolve.
• Ensure quality and adequate manpower to meet safety, schedule and quality goals.
• Maintain daily field reports, safety inspections, and schedule updates.
