Lead Structural Engineer – Canada

Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be part of the Mining team, based in the Sudbury or North Bay office.

Responsibilities include:

1. Perform site visits to inspect and assess existing mining infrastructure.
2. Design steel structures and concrete foundations according to applicable codes in mining and heavy industry.
3. Prepare sketches and collaborate on detailed drawings.
4. Coordinate with clients and disciplines for layout designs.
5. Develop engineering calculations, specifications, and scope documents.
6. Contribute to technical memos and reports.
7. Create detailed working drawings for various materials.
8. Review and mentor junior staff and EITs.
9. Ensure projects meet scope, budget, and schedule.
10. Assist in proposal preparations.
11. Perform post-IFC services like shop drawing reviews.
12. Stamp documents as registered.
13. Implement safety and integrity principles in documentation.
14. Familiarize with EXP standards.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
2. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province.
3. 15+ years of project engineering, design, and construction experience in surface and underground mining.
4. Experience in underground mining design and heavy industry construction.
5. Structural inspection and assessment experience.
6. Proficiency in steel, concrete, and foundation design, preferably in mining.
7. Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and mining regulations.
8. Proficiency in STAAD.Pro and BIM environments.
9. Strong computer skills and organizational abilities.
10. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
