Reporting to the Manager, SOX Controls Advisory, the Lead, Controls Advisory is responsible for supporting Teck’s compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). This role involves crafting, implementing, and maintaining financial reporting controls, collaborating with various departments, supervising control deficiencies and remediation plans, and ensuring effective communication with auditors and control owners.

Responsibilities include:

1. Supporting development and maintenance of management controls and policies.
2. Providing advice on financial reporting and internal control matters.
3. Participating in process walkthroughs and updating process flow diagrams, narratives, and RCMs.
4. Liaising with risk management functions and auditors to ensure efficient SOX activities.
5. Collaborating with control owners on deficiencies and remediation.
6. Supervising ICFR and SOX issues and implications.
7. Acting as a systems administrator for GRC system.
8. Influencing stakeholders across the company on projects and controls.
9. Preparing presentations and mentorship on SOX and process design.
10. Identifying and communicating process gaps and solutions.
11. Supporting ad hoc projects and issues resolution.
12. Analyzing big picture issues and details proactively.

Qualifications:

1. A CPA, CA designation or equivalent, with Big 4 experience.
2. 6+ years of experience in internal controls and SOX in a multinational environment.
3. Strong understanding of SOX legislation, PCAOB requirements, COSO, and COBIT frameworks.
4. Experience with process flow diagrams and SOX controls design.
5. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
6. Curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
7. Working knowledge of Spanish and knowledge of mining industry are assets.
8. Strong self-management, learning agility, and relationship-building skills.
