Our global team of over 60 people, we operate as an independent entity within the larger Ticketmaster/Live Nation family. We set our own roadmap and operate a modern tech stack (i.e., Kubernetes, Docker, Flux and more!), all with the financial backing and resources of a Fortune 500 company.

THE JOB

As a Lead QA Developer at Universe, you will apply your passion for technology and live entertainment to build and test a world-class, highly scalable ticketing platform. In this deeply technical position, you’ll work closely with QA specialists and with team Software Leads to build reliable and scalable test automation solutions and solve tough technical challenges. You’ll deliver great quality code and innovative solutions while growing your skills as both a technical contributor and leader through code reviews, pairing sessions, mentorship opportunities, and both learning from, and teaching skills to the teams.

Our clients and their fans rely on Universe to provide a stable, and reliable platform that can scale quickly to handle unpredictable demand, and large traffic and data volumes. As the Lead QA Developer, you will be relied upon to not just maintain and add to the existing automated test suite but to innovate and design new approaches and strategies to improve the continuing quality of the product and to elevate our QA specialists to the next level of ability.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Develop and implement automation strategies, plans, and frameworks to meet business objectives
  • Develop, implement, and maintain automation framework, workflows, and processes
  • Run existing automated tests, interpreting results and communicating outcomes
  • Lead, mentor, and support Junior and Intermediate QA Testers
  • Work with product managers to understand the needs for the features being built
  • Pair-program with other talented developers
  • Meet regularly with the other Leads to contribute to our collaborative tech vision and enrich discussions with your unique perspective and experience
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest automation technologies and trends
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in automation processes and tools
  • Participate in self-directed Relentless Improvement days where you get to work by yourself or with others to improve something, be it your own skills/training, fixing a pesky issue, or coming up with a new interesting feature

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • 5+ years of development experience in automated testing of complex systems.
  • Experience designing and executing all levels of testing: System, Integration, Performance, and Regression.
  • An independent, fast-learning, self-starter who takes ownership over solving hard problems.
  • A passion for quality, including defining and executing test plans, and QA processes and automated test strategy, etc.
  • Effective communicator, written and oral, as this role will be working closely with people from all over the organization.
  • Experience with testing tools and scripting languages such as, Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Typescript and/or Javascript.
  • Experience with development in a macOS environment.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, or Argo CD.
  • Worked with persistent data stores such as PostgresSQL, Mongo, Redis, Clickhouse, or Elasticsearch.
  • Exposure to client-side web application frameworks such as NodeJS, React, or Angular is a bonus!
