Job summary

RBC is seeking an Associate Director, Lead Software Developer for on-site work in Toronto. You will join a high-caliber engineering team delivering real-time, low-latency systems for Fixed Income trading, covering trade booking, execution, and post-trade workflows.

You will lead design, mentor developers, and collaborate with product owners and traders to translate needs into robust software. Strong Java 17+ and Spring expertise, cloud/container experience, and DevOps practices are required.

Qualifications

8+ years designing and developing distributed, low-latency Java systems.
5+ years with Java 17+ and Spring framework; capital markets knowledge helpful.
Relational DBs and messaging (Kafka/Solace/IBM MQ) experience.
Redis or Apache Ignite caching knowledge.
Write clean, testable Java with automated unit/integration tests.
CI/CD and DevOps practices using GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira/Confluence, Ansible, SonarQube.

Responsibilities

Contribute to design and development of RBC cash trade management systems.
Lead and mentor developers to raise team skill and mind-set.
Collaborate with product owner, business analysts, and users to translate needs into software.
Understand currency flows, challenge status quo, and propose strategic solutions.
Set high standards for performant, reusable, scalable systems.
Provide Level 2 support as needed.
