The University of Regina invites applications for a Research Associate (Lead Scientist – Turnkey Systems). You will design, develop, and integrate turnkey sensing platforms across electronics, mechanics, and software, including PCB design, MCU programming, GUI development, and CAD modeling.

This role emphasizes system‑level integration of IoT, embedded AI/ML, and swam/robotic platforms for UAVs and hydro/aerial environments, with opportunities for PhD conversion after a probationary period.

Competenze

Master’s or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering or closely related field.
2–3 years hands‑on PCB design, MCU programming, GUI development.
CAD software for mechanical design and system integration.
Knowledge of IoT connectivity protocols and embedded systems.
Experience with AI/ML techniques for sensor data processing.

Mansioni

Lead a team of 3 engineers, technicians and students.
Design multilayer PCBs for sensor interfacing and power management.
Program microcontrollers in C/C++, Python for real‑time data acquisition and control.
Develop GUIs using Qt, PyQt, LabVIEW or web dashboards for remote control.
Integrate system components across sensing, processing, and communication modules.
Create mechanical enclosures and housings using AutoCAD, Fusion 360 or SolidWorks.
Implement IoT connectivity and edge AI frameworks for on‑device processing.
Prepare technical documentation and mentor junior staff and students.
Coordinate budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships.
