Lead QA Engineer – OTT Platforms & Devices (Onsite)

Our video distribution services team is looking for a Web/Device TQA Test Lead to help validate OTT streaming experiences across multiple platforms and devices.

About the Role:

As a TQA Test Lead, you will be responsible for hands-on testing across connected devices and platforms to ensure high-quality streaming experiences. This role involves functional validation, automation scripting, and in-depth troubleshooting across OTT ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform hands-on testing of APIs, mobile apps, smart TVs, and embedded consumer electronics devices (e.g., Chromecast, Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku).
2. Validate streaming protocols and DRM technologies including DASH, HLS, Fairplay, Widevine, and PlayReady.
3. Conduct cross-browser platform testing to ensure consistent experience.
4. Use network proxy tools (Charles, ADB, Developer Tools) to inspect, read, and modify network requests.
5. Leverage monitoring tools like New Relic, Appsflyer, Firebase, and Clevertap to analyze performance.
6. Develop and maintain automation scripts using Testim.io, Selenium, Appium, JMeter, STB Tester.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure quality across products.
8. Contribute to continuous process improvement and standardization of best practices.

Work Model:

On-site: Due to the nature of devices involved in testing, this role requires in-office presence at the Toronto location.

Technical Expertise and Background:

1. 5+ years of testing experience in the OTT media domain.
2. Strong background in audio/video testing across connected devices and smart TVs.
3. Proven experience in API and microservices testing.
4. In-depth knowledge of streaming protocols (DASH, HLS) and DRM (Widevine, Fairplay, PlayReady).
5. Experience with automation frameworks: Testim.io, Selenium, Appium, JMeter, STB Tester.
6. Proficiency with network analysis tools such as Charles Proxy, ADB, and browser developer tools.
7. Strong debugging skills and root cause analysis capabilities.
8. Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes is a plus.
9. Excellent communication, team leadership, and problem-solving skills.
