Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Automation Test Lead to design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for web applications. You will build end-to-end test automation with Playwright, UI and API test suites, and API testing strategies.

You will lead a team, mentor automation engineers, and drive QA process improvements while working in a remote-capable role open to qualified applicants in Canada.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of QA Automation and Software Testing experience with Playwright and TS.
• 3+ years building hybrid or custom automation frameworks with Playwright (JS/TS/Python/Java).
• Experience in agile teams using BDD, Cucumber, Github Actions, and Jenkins.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks and suites.
• Strong expertise in functional, integration, regression, system, API, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience establishing QA metrics, quality gates, defect management, release readiness.
• Ability to lead test automation strategy and framework modernization.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Test Lead with strong expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks for web applications. The ideal candidate should have hands‑on experience with Playwright and other automation testing tools, along with a solid understanding of software testing methodologies, test planning, and quality assurance best practices.

In this role, you will

• Design, build, and maintain scalable end-to‑end test automation frameworks using Playwright.

What you need to have to be considered

• 10+ years of experience in QA Automation and Software Testing, with strong hands‑on expertise in Playwright using TypeScript.
• Must have 3+ years in building hybrid or custom automation frameworks using Playwright (alongside proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java).
• Must have experience working in agile teams using BDD, Cucumber, Github action and Jenkins.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks and test suites.
• Strong experience in functional, integration, regression, system, API, and end‑to‑end testing.
• Experience establishing QA metrics, quality gates, defect management, test coverage, and release‑readiness criteria.
• Ability to lead test automation strategy and framework modernization, reducing manual testing and improving release velocity.

These will help you stand out

• Insurance domain experience is added advantage.
• Experience in AI‑led Quality Engineering, leveraging AI/GenAI capabilities to improve test planning, test design, automation, execution, defect analysis, and overall software quality.
• Should work and support on‑shore offshore model.

Total compensation

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 80,000 – 110,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business‑related and job‑necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance‑based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
