Overview
Shermco Industries is seeking a Lead Protection & Controls (P&C) Technician.
Responsibilities
- Installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFR’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s), and communication processors.
- Functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks.
- RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients.
- Experienced with SEL microprocessor relays such as 311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487B, 487E, 487V, 587, 587Z, and 787.
- Desired experience with GE microprocessor relays such as C30, D60, F35, L90, T35, and T60.
- Required experience with various RTU’s and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, Cooper, and Novatech.
- Accurately reviewing, documenting, and submitting test reports used for client reporting and regulatory purposes.
- Interpret one line, three line, wiring, schematic diagrams, and communication configurations with the ability to recognize and bring attention to discrepancies.
- Accurately complete time and expense reports along with maintaining the good condition of assigned company vehicle.

Other Requirements:- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required.
- Pass pre-employment drug test and periodic unannounced drug tests.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check with 7 year history.
- Have a valid driver's license and meet minimum motor vehicle insurability standards.
- Take and pass 30 hour OSHA training.
- Ability to work in a field environment subject to changing outdoor conditions.
- Work overtime as needed and willingness to travel extensively to client work locations.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Pay Range
CAD $60.00 - CAD $70.00 /Hr.
