About Cookin

Cookin began in Toronto with a simple idea: great food connects people. Now part of CookUnity, we’re rebuilding our entire platform—Cookin v2—with a lean, skunk-works-style team that feels more like an early-stage startup than a scale-up division. Our mission is to give food creators, independent cooks and chefs the same digital superpowers big brands enjoy like seamless pickup & delivery, integrated payments, multi-channel monetization and business-grade organization, so they can focus on doing what they love: their communities.

The Role

As the first dedicated designer on Cookin v2, you’ll set the creative and product-design foundations that the rest of the team will build on. You’ll partner daily with product, engineering, brand, and growth to ship fast, learn even faster, and turn insights into delightful, high-impact features.

You will:

• Own the end-to-end user experience—from shaping product strategy and defining north-star vision to sweating the final pixel.
• Prototype, test, and iterate quickly on flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity visuals across native mobile and web.
• Tell clear, compelling stories about user needs and product opportunities that rally the squad around the right problems.
• Work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers to ensure design quality survives the build process and launches on time.
• Champion design that keeps our team moving fast without sacrificing craft.

About You

• Product-minded maker. You think in terms of outcomes, not dribbble shots. You notice when an experience feels off and can articulate why.
• Full-stack designer. Research, IA, interaction, visual, motion—you’re comfortable owning the spectrum and know when to go deep vs. good-enough.
• Builder at heart. Startups, side projects, hack-weeks—you love turning blank pages into shipped product and aren’t fazed by ambiguity or constraints.
• Relentless learner. New tools (Figma variables, Cursor, Windsurf, Midjourney, v0) excite you. You’ll adopt whatever helps the team move faster and smarter.
• 5+ years of real-world impact. You’ve shipped consumer-facing products at a high-growth startup, studio, or beloved app used by thousands. Portfolio required.

Location

Hybrid-flex with a strong preference for teammates who can collaborate in our Toronto office several days a week. (We’ll make exceptions for extraordinary candidates.)

Compensation

All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

Pay Range for this position

$140,000 - $180,000 CAD
